According to Sabah, West Ham United will have to shell out at least €25-30 million to sign defensive target Jayden Oosterwolde this summer. Fenerbahce might not stand in the way of the Dutch defender should they get the right offer from suitors, with other Premier League sides also keen.
Jayden Oosterwolde’s asking price revealed
Jayden Oosterwolde had a good enough season with Fenerbahce but could not help the side win the Turkish championship. The team posted an incredible tally of 99 points but still lost the title to Galatasaray by three points.
Oosterwolde could now consider either staying put with Fenerbahce and working under Jose Mourinho or moving to one of his suitors in the Premier League. West Ham United were keeping tabs on the Dutchman in anticipation of a potential move this summer.
The Hammers had established contact for the defender, as Julen Lopetegui remains desperate to improve his backline. Fenerbahce may not stand in Oosterwolde’s way and will demand at least €25-30 million for the 23-year-old defender, which is reasonable given his future upside and the performances he had last season.
Whether West Ham are willing to pay significantly for a player with experience from the Turkish league and not elsewhere remains to be seen. However, given the Hammers’ activity in the transfer market, it’s clear they are seeking a defender, and more so, someone with versatile quality and a strong left foot.
West Ham targetting multiple defenders
Apart from Oosterwolde, the Hammers also hold interest or have already made attempts for other names. Lopetegui clearly wants some level of experience from his new centre-b ack, and hence, their pursuit of Max Kilman makes complete sense. They are, in fact, optimistic about beating Newcastle United for the signature of the Wolves skipper.
They failed to make a move for Fabricio Bruno of Flamengo despite agreeing a fee with the Brazilian side. The defender would like high wages, and probably a move to Saudi Arabia suits him better.
