Tottenham, West Ham United rival Barcelona in Jaden Philogene chase

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are ready to compete with Barcelona for the signature of Jaden Philogene.

According to a report from Football Insider, Tottenham and West Ham United have entered the race for the services of Jaden Philogene. The English youth international had an impressive season last time out and there is no shortage of interest in his services.

Philogene came up the ranks at Aston Villa, he got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2021. While he did have decent loan spells, the 22-year-old couldn’t establish himself in their first team and parted ways in search of regular first-team action.

In order to get his career on track, he decided to join Championship outfit Hull City last summer. He was involved in 32 league games for the Tigers and managed to contribute towards 18 goals. The left-winger found the back of the net on 12 occasions. His performances haven’t gone unnoticed as top clubs from across Europe are keen on signing the left-winger.

Barcelona are one of the clubs linked with the young forward. The Catalan giants want to add more quality as well as depth on the flanks and they feel Philogene could be a great signing for them. He is capable of featuring on both sides and has an eye on goal.

Tottenham & West Ham keen on Philogene

Tottenham and West Ham have entered the race for the English forward and are ready to battle the Spanish giants. While Ange Postecoglou’s priority is to sign a new number nine, he seeks to add more options outwide as it will allow him to start Son Heung-min in a more central role when needed.

Philogene’s performances in the Championship and his versatility are major reasons for Spurs’ interest in him which seems to be quite concrete at this stage. As far as the Hammers are concerned, they only have two out-and-out wingers in the squad.

While they have a few other players who can feature on the flanks, Julen Lopetegui is keen on having more firepower going forward. The Hammers have entered preliminary talks regarding a move this summer as technical director Tim Steidten spearheads their pursuit.

While he still has two years left on his deal at Hull City, they are anticipating his departure this summer given the amount of interest in him. The player is keen on making a return to the top level after having taken the drop last summer and he certainly has a few top options to choose from.
