Tottenham rival West Ham United in Wesley Gassova chase

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly compete with West Ham United to sign 19-year-old Brazilian prodigy Wesley Gassova from Corinthians.

According to a report by Italian outlet Area Napoli, Wesley Gassova is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The North London giants are scouring the market for an offensive reinforcement heading into the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Brazilian wonderkid is also a target for West Ham United, with Corinthians demanding around €30 million to part ways with him.

Wesley Gassova has emerged as the latest highly-rated Brazilian prodigy to rise in prominence in his homeland. The country continues to produce promising prospects, especially attackers, with Endrick, Estevao Willian, and Luis Guilherme among the attacking sensations to gain popularity in Brazil in recent years.

As for Wesley, he has been with Corinthians since 2016 and made his first-team bow for the Brazilian giants in April 2022. Since then, the teenage sensation has gone from strength to strength at Corinthians, turning out 71 times thus far for the senior side while chipping in with seven goals and five assists.

While Wesley Gassova’s output has not been exciting, his progress has captured the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Recent reports have linked the 19-year-old with many Premier League outfits like West Ham United and Fulham. The latest update has pointed to Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest being prospective suitors.

West Ham United’s interest in Wesley Gassova is understandable. The Hammers are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Lucas Paqueta. However, West Ham’s initial offer did not hit the spot, with Corinthians’s asking price of €30 million putting the East London club in a spot of bother.
