Galatasaray hold transfer talks with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg agents

Tottenham close to securing priority option for future Johnny Cardoso deal.

Galatasaray are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and have opened talks with his agents.

According to a report from Sporx, Galatasaray want to reinforce their midfield ahead of next season and they are interested in acquiring the services of Tottenham star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The Turkish giants have been in talks with his agents regarding a potential transfer.

Hojbjerg arrived at Spurs back in the summer of 2020 after proving himself in the English top flight with Southampton. He was an integral part of their first team until last season. The arrival of Ange Postecoglou has seen him go down the pecking order.

Hojbjerg to leave Spurs?

While the Danish defensive midfielder was involved in 39 matches last season, he was on the pitch for less than 1,500 minutes. Hojbjerg is frustrated by the lack of minutes and is on the lookout for a move away in search of regular first-team action.

With his contract running out in 12 months, Tottenham are also willing to sanction his departure. They prefer raising funds from his sale than risk losing out on him for free in a year. Multiple top clubs are interested in his services and Galatasaray are one of them.

The Turkish giants had an exceptional season last time out and they are now looking to ensure they can touch similar heights next season by adding more quality to their midfield.

Hojbjerg is Galatasaray’s top priority for this summer

They want to bring in a world-class midfielder who can shield the backline and help them dominate the ball. Hojbjerg is a name that is quite high on their wishlist. Okan Buruk is a huge admirer of the 28-year-old and would love to have him at his disposal.

Galatasaray have held a meeting with the Danish player’s agent in Italy as they look to sign him. The Turkish club have been suggested the name of Hojbjerg’s club teammate Rodrigo Bentancur by his agents.

But, the Danish international remains their top priority and they wait for his response before moving towards other targets. With the player currently focused on doing his best at Euro 2024, he is expected to make a decision regarding his future once the tournament ends.
