Marseille are in talks with Manchester United as they look to sign their academy graduate Mason Greenwood ahead of next season.
According to David Ornstein, Marseille are interested in acquiring the services of Mason Greenwood. The French club are in talks with Manchester United over a potential transfer this summer. The Red Devils are ready to cash in on their academy graduate whose contract runs out in 12 months.
United decided to send Greenwood out on loan to Getafe last season. The English winger made a sensational return to football with the Spanish club. He was one of their best players throughout the campaign. The 22-year-old finished with 10 goals and six assists in his 36 outings.
While Sir Jim Ratcliffe was open to the idea of reinstating him in their first team following his return after an impressive loan spell, they have decided against it. They are ready to sanction his departure and multiple clubs from across Europe have been linked with the versatile forward who can feature anywhere in attack.
Marseille pushing for Greenwood’s signature
Marseille are one of the clubs interested in his services. The French outfit wants to reinforce their attack ahead of next season and they feel signing Greenwood could be a sensational piece of business from their end.
He will strengthen the right flank and will given the more tactical options up top. More importantly, they will be adding a young star to their ranks who will only get better with time.
The French club are in talks with Manchester United. While the talks are still in the early stages, Marseille seem confident as the talks so far have been quite positive. Greenwood is keen on taking the next step after making an impressive return to action and according to Ornstein, he favours joining them over other options at this point.
Both clubs are yet to discuss the financial side of things but according to Santi Aouna, Manchester United are looking for €40 million. With just a year left on his deal, the Red Devils want to cash in on him on the back of his impressive form.
