AC Milan want €40-50 million to sell Fikayo Tomori

Newcastle United will have to cough up €40-50 million to sign 26-year-old English defender Fikayo Tomori from AC Milan in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Fikayo Tomori is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The Magpies are keen on signing another centre-back in the summer transfer window despite landing Lloyd Kelly in a Bosman move. Meanwhile, AC Milan will demand around €40-50 million to sell the 26-year-old defender.

Fikayo Tomori and his journey at AC Milan

Fikayo Tomori has established himself as one of the best defenders in Serie A since joining AC Milan from Chelsea in 2021. The move was initially a winter loan until the end of the 2020/21 season before the Rossoneri completed a permanent transfer in the subsequent summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old played his part in AC Milan winning the Serie A title in the 2021/22 season. The Englishman has turned out nearly 150 times thus far for the Rossoneri, chipping in with seven goals and one assist. Meanwhile, Tomori’s progress at San Siro has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.

A return to the Premier League might be on the cards, with several well-known top-flight bigwigs setting their sights on him. Newcastle United, in particular, are pushing for the English defender’s signature heading into the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, AC Milan will demand around €40-50 million to part ways with the former Chelsea defender.

Premier League return on the horizon?

Newcastle United’s interest in Fikayo Tomori is understandable. The Magpies have already signed a central defender by securing the services of Lloyd Kelly in a Bosman move. However, they are eager to land another centre-back, with Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles likely out for the first half of the 2023/24 season.

In addition, Lascelles, Fabian Schar, and Dan Burn are on the wrong side of 30. So, it behoves Newcastle United to sign a centre-back, with Tomori emerging as a viable target. However, while the Magpies are keen on bringing the 26-year-old back to the Premier League, coughing up €40-50 million to land him might be a tall order.

The Magpies are in a spot of bother over potentially flouting the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules. In addition, recent reports have claimed that Tomori does not want to join Newcastle United. So, a summer move might not see the light of day.
