Tottenham make approach for Federico Gatti

Premier League heavyweights Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly asked for information about Italian international Federico Gatti.

According to a report by Gianni Balzarini, as relayed by Tutto Juve, Federico Gatti is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The North London giants have submitted an enquiry to sign the Italian international in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Juventus will demand around €25-30 million to part ways with him.

The rise of Federico Gatti at Juventus

Federico Gatti has found a stable footing in his career since joining Juventus from Frosinone in 2022. The 26-year-old was a journeyman in the early years of his professional career, passing through the various clubs before landing at the Turin outfit and establishing a foothold in the first-team squad.

The Italian international also broke into his national side a few years ago and has travelled to Germany for UEFA Euro 2024. Meanwhile, Gatti was a regular for Juventus in the 2023/24 season, amassing 3,000 minutes of game time across 36 appearances in all competitions while chipping in four goals.

Gatti’s progress at Juventus in the last two years has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. A move to the Premier League might be on the cards, with Newcastle United recently joining the race to sign him. However, Gatti is also a target for Tottenham Hotspur.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Federico Gatti is understandable. The North London giants are scouring the market for a defender heading into the summer transfer window. Eric Dier faces an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while Japhet Tanganga will likely complete a permanent move to Millwall.

So, several candidates, including Riccardo Calafiori, have emerged on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar. However, Calafiori’s compatriot, Gatti, has emerged as a viable target for the North London club. They have already submitted an enquiry to sign the Italian international, with Juventus demanding around €25-30 million to part ways with him.

€25-30 million is an acceptable sum for a defender reaching his peak years. So, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham will meet Juventus’s valuation to secure his services in the summer transfer window.
