Aston Villa recently failed with a bid worth €15 million to sign Michael Kayode, with Fiorentina demanding around €30 million to part ways with him.
According to a report by Italian outlet Firenze Viola, Michael Kayode is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans have offered €15 million to sign the highly-rated Italian full-back. However, Fiorentina will demand around €30 million to part ways with the youngster, with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur also keen on landing him in the summer transfer window.
Michael Kayode and his rising stock
Michael Kayode has established himself as one of the best young defenders in Serie A since breaking into the first-team squad at Fiorentina. A native of Borgomanero, he began his youth career at Juventus before spending a couple of years at ASDC Gozzano. However, he graduated from the youth division at Fiorentina, making his senior bow in the 2023/24 season.
The 19-year-old grew in stature in the second half of the 2023/24 season, amassing nearly 3,000 minutes of game time across 37 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with one goal and four assists. Meanwhile, Kayode’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa.
Premier League beckons?
Arsenal began showing interest in the Fiorentina full-back several months ago. Since then, they have scouted the Italian prospect, although he will unlikely become the first-choice right-back immediately after arriving at the Emirates. Nevertheless, he could be a worthy investment at €30 million.
Meanwhile, Tottenham’s interest in Michael Kayode is understandable. The North London club will likely part ways with Emerson Royal in the summer transfer window. So, Kayode has emerged as a viable target to replace the Brazilian international at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
As for Aston Villa, they have recently joined the race to secure Michael Kayode’s services. The West Midlands club might part ways with Matty Cash in the summer transfer window. So, Kayode is an option worth considering, although Aston Villa’s opening bid of €15 million did not do the trick.
