Yankuba Minteh prioritising Everton move, Toffees in pole position

Yankuba Minteh reportedly has his heart set on joining Everton from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Yankuba Minteh is the subject of interest from Everton. The 19-year-old has boosted the Merseyside club’s prospects of securing his services as he has identified Goodison Park as his priority destination. So, the Toffees are in the pole position to secure his services in the summer transfer window.

Yankuba Minteh and his rise

Yankuba Minteh has had to bide his time since joining Newcastle United from Odense BK last summer. A native of Bakoteh, the Gambian international spent most of his formative years in his homeland before arriving in Europe by moving to Odense in August 2022. He spent only one year in Denmark before joining the Tyneside club.

However, Newcastle United immediately loaned Minteh to Feyenoord, hoping to see him make swift progress at the Eredivisie club. The Magpies got their wish, with the 19-year-old wonderkid contributing to 17 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net 11 times while providing six assists.

Minteh’s progress at Feyenoord has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Recent reports have linked the teenage sensation with bigwigs like Borussia Dortmund and Lyon. However, a move across the Premier League might be on the cards, with Everton vying for his signature.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Everton’s interest in Yankuba Minteh is understandable. The Toffees are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window. While Everton will bring Jack Harrison to Goodison Park, they are keen on signing another attacker who can be an upgrade on the Englishman.

Minteh is thus a viable target, with the latest report boosting Everton’s prospects. Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the 19-year-old wonderkid views Goodison Park as his priority destination. In addition, French journalist Santi Aouna has suggested that the Toffees lead the race to sign the Newcastle United prodigy.

Newcastle United recently rebuffed Liverpool’s interest in the Gambian international, hoping to keep him at the club. However, with Minteh informing Newcastle United that he wants to join Everton, a summer departure might be on the cards only a year after joining the Tyneside outfit.
