Arsenal will have to battle it out with Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund for the services of Turkish full-back Ferdi Kadıoglu.
According to a report from TBR Football, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are keen on reinforcing their squad this summer, and they have their eyes set on Fenerbahce full-back Ferdi Kadioglu. While the Gunners have been monitoring him for months, they have been informed about Borussia Dortmund’s interest in his services.
Kadioglu arrived at the Turkish club back in the summer of 2018, and he has gone from strength to strength over the years. The 24-year-old full-back has established himself as one of the mainstays in the team. In the recently concluded season, he was involved in 51 matches and ended up contributing towards eight goals.
While the player is currently focused on doing his best for Turkiye at Euro 2024, there is a lot of talk about his future. Arsenal are one of the clubs keen on prising him away from Fenerbahce where he will have the opportunity to work under Jose Mourinho next season.
Arsenal keen on Ferdi Kadioglu
The Gunners might not have made an offer for the full-back yet, but they have been keeping a close eye on him for a while now. Mikel Arteta is keen on bolstering his squad further after once again missing out on the league title.
He wants more firepower to help him go past Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. While Oleksandr Zinchenko is Arteta’s preferred choice at left-back, the Spanish manager seeks more depth at the back. He feels Ferdi Kadioglu could be an ideal addition to his squad as he can feature on both flanks and is attacking in nature.
Borussia Dortmund have entered the race for Kadioglu
While the Gunners have been monitoring him, and they have been informed of Borussia Dortmund’s interest in the 24-year-old. The Bundesliga club want to sign a new left-back on a priority basis after missing out on Ian Maatsen, who will feature for Aston Villa next season.
Maatsen had an impressive short loan spell at Dortmund last season. They wanted to sign him, but the financial side of things were not in their favour. As a result, the Bundesliga giants have now decided to push for Kadioglu and have spoken to Fenerbahce about a potential move as new coach Nuri Sahin has highlighted him as their best option.
The Gunners have been issued a warning in their pursuit of Kadioglu, with Borussia Dortmund entering the race. As a result, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in the end.
