La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly in talks to sign 17-year-old African wonderkid Mohamed Hamony from Ligue 1 club Le Havre.
According to a report by L’Equipe, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Mohamed Hamony is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants have initiated discussions with the young attacker’s entourage over a possible move in the summer transfer window. However, they will face stiff competition from Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais for the 17-year-old Le Havre wonderkid.
Who is Mohamed Hamony?
Mohamed Hamony is the latest highly-rated product of the French football system. A native of Casablanca, he began his youth career within France by joining FC Rouen before spending some time with US Quevilly Rouen Métropole. The Moroccan youth international joined Le Havre AC in 2020 and has come leaps and bounds in the last few years.
The 17-year-old is a left-winger by trade but can also reprise roles on the right flank and through the central areas. Hamony currently turns out for Le Havre’s under-19 side but has also made two appearances for the reserve team. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed.
The African attacking sensation has captured the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. The latest report has suggested that Hamony is a target for Barcelona heading into the summer transfer window, with Stade Rennais also keen on securing his services.
Barcelona want Hamony
Barcelona’s interest in Mohamed Hamony is understandable. The Catalan giants constantly scour the market for highly-rated prodigies, with the outlook helping them sign promising prospects like Mikayil Faye and Noah Darvich in the last 12 months. The Le Havre AC wonderkid has emerged as the latest wonderkid on Barcelona’s radar.
Recent reports have linked Barcelona with several highly-rated prodigies, including Jorthy Mokio, although the 16-year-old might not join the Blaugrana in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Catalan giants have begun negotiations with Mohamed Hamony’s entourage over a possible summer move.
However, Barcelona will face stiff competition from Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais. So, it will be interesting to see if the Blaugrana can beat the other suitors to land the 17-year-old African wonderkid from Le Havre.
