Aston Villa, West Ham United rival Liverpool in David Hancko chase

Aston Villa and West Ham United are ready to square up against Liverpool for the signature of Slovakian international David Hancko.

David Hancko finds himself on the radar of multiple top clubs from across Europe on the back of his impressive performances for club and country. According to a report from HITC, Aston Villa, West Ham United, and Liverpool are all keen on signing the Feyenoord centre-back ahead of next season.

Hancko has taken his game to another level since joining the Dutch club from Sparta Prague in the summer of 2020. The left-footed centre-back had an impressive 2023/24 season, where he was involved in 48 matches and ended up contributing towards 10 goals.

The 26-year-old is all set to enter his prime, and clubs are ready to prise him away from Feyenoord. While he is known for his ball-playing abilities, Hancko’s defensive abilities were in the limelight as he played a big part in Slovakia’s sensational win over Belgium in their Euro 2024 opener.

Hancko to Liverpool?

Back in January, the player’s agent admitted that Liverpool were interested in his services. While nothing concrete took place back then and he ended up signing a new deal in February, Hancko has once again been linked with the Reds following the appointment of Arne Slot as their new boss.

With the former Feyenoord manager taking charge at Anfield and the Reds on the lookout for a new left-footed ball playing centre back, Hancko does seem to be a great option for them. While they have enquired about him, the Reds have not made any concrete moves yet.

Aston Villa and West Ham also keen on Hancko

Aston Villa and West Ham are ready to battle the Merseyside club for his signature. Unai Emery wants more quality and depth in his backline after helping Aston Villa qualify for the UEFA Champions League, and the 26-year-old could be a great fit in his system.

With Angelo Ogbonna’s departure, the Hammers only have three centre-backs in their squad, and they are in desperate need to further bolster that part of the pitch. West Ham are admirers of Hancko, and he could surely help their cause.

West Ham are currently pushing for Wolves skipper Max Kilman, who will cost them around £50 million but pushing for the Feyenoord centre-back could be a better option as he will be available for around half the price (£25 million).
