West Ham United ready to offer Emerson Palmieri in deal to sign Carlos Augusto

West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing Carlos Augusto this summer by offering Emerson Palmieri in the deal to land him.

According to a report from Inter Live, West Ham United are plotting a player-plus-cash deal to sign Inter Milan defender Carlos Augusto. The Hammers are ready to offer Emerson Palmieri to the Serie A champions in return.

The report states that West Ham would be open to offering the 29-year-old wide man and €20 million in cash for the Inter Milan full-back. The 25-year-old Brazilian international defender can operate as a left-back as well as a left-sided winger. He will add defensive cover and creativity from the flanks.

Augusto has a contract with Inter Milan until 2028, and it remains to be seen whether the Italian champions are willing to sell him this summer. The player was on loan at Italian club Monza last season, and he was quite impressive for them. He will be hoping to play regularly next season and if the Nerazzurri fail to provide him with that opportunity, he could be interested in a move elsewhere.

Carlos Augusto could be tempted to join West Ham

The opportunity to move to the Premier League could be quite attractive for the Brazilian international defender, and West Ham could provide him with ample game time. The Hammers will be hoping to push for European qualification next season, and they must improve their squad during the summer transfer window.

The East London club have a quality manager at their disposal, and the club hierarchy will need to back Julen Lopetegui in the transfer market with adequate reinforcements. Meanwhile, West Ham have also shown interest in other left-backs, including Ryan Sessegnon.

West Ham have the bones of a very good squad, and they could easily push for European qualification and domestic trophies with a few intelligent additions this summer. Signing a versatile left-back could prove to be a wise decision. Augusto certainly has the physical and technical attributes to succeed in English football, and he will hope to establish himself as a key player for the club.

Meanwhile, Emerson Palmieri could be a useful option for Inter Milan if they are willing to accept him as a part of the deal. However, player-plus-cash deals are often difficult to execute, and it remains to be seen whether all parties can come to an agreement.
