Manchester United and Fulham will reportedly compete with Chelsea for Aston Villa attacking prospect Jhon Duran, who will cost €40 million.
According to a report by Antena 2, Manchester United and Fulham have joined the race to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window. The young attacking prospect is a target for Chelsea. However, the talks with the West London club over a deal worth €40 million for the Colombian international have stalled, providing Manchester United and Fulham the opportunity to steal a march on Chelsea.
Jhon Duran and his Aston Villa journey so far
Jhon Duran has battled for regular game time since joining Aston Villa from Chicago Fire in January 2023. The 20-year-old has been impressive in his limited minutes on the pitch. However, that has not been enough to convince Unai Emery to make him a regular in the final third alongside Ollie Watkins.
The Colombian international managed only 1,103 minutes of game time across 37 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net eight times. Meanwhile, Duran’s stock in the market remains high, with Chelsea, Fulham, and Manchester United vying for his signature.
A man in demand
Chelsea and Aston Villa have been in talks over a deal for Duran in the last few weeks. However, the discussions have stalled in recent days due to a few external factors. While the Blues want a striker, they have concerns about the youngster’s attitude. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s hesitancy has given his other suitors a window of opportunity.
Fulham’s interest in Jhon Duran is understandable. The Cottagers are scouring the market for a striker this summer as they look to fill Aleksandar Mitrovic’s void at the club. While Rodrigo Muniz stepped up, Fulham will look for another option, with several candidates, including Eddie Nketiah, emerging as targets.
As for Manchester United, their interest in Duran is somewhat perplexing, considering Rasmus Hojlund’s presence in the squad. While the Red Devils need a striker, they should sign a more experienced attacker than Duran. Nevertheless, Manchester United will consider signing the Aston Villa prospect, who will cost around €40 million.
