Bayern Munich make move for Casemiro, move quickly cools

Bayern Munich attempted a move to sign Casemiro, but the interest cooled off soon enough as they are focused on Joao Palhinha.

According to Trivela, Bayern Munich approached Casemiro over a move, but the move has since cooled off. The Bavarians are keen on signing an experienced defensive midfielder and may have earmarked Fulham star Joao Palhinha as their main target.

Bayern Munich in Casemiro approach

Casemiro had a strange season at Manchester United, as the team finished eighth in the Premier League but ended up winning the FA Cup and, consequently, found a route into the Europa League. The experienced Manchester United star did come in for much criticism from time to time, with many fans now wanting the Brazilian to leave in the summer.

Now, it appears Bayern Munich may have attempted to approach Casemiro or even Manchester United about the midfielder’s availability. The Bundesliga giants are keen to recruit an experienced defensive midfielder, which may have seen them consider the Brazilian about a move.

The report suggests that interest soon waned, and now the Bavarian giants have cooled in their pursuit of the experienced Manchester United star. They are seemingly focused on Fulham star Joao Palhinha, and as per Fabrizio Romano, talks are underway for the Portuguese international.

As for Casemiro, Bayern might have considered him for his experience and tenacity in a midfield role, as they somewhat lack a big presence in that aspect. However, the move seems dead as the Bavarians will certainly focus on Palhinha, while Manchester United will sit down and think about the Brazilian’s immediate future at the club.

Will Manchester United sell Casemiro?

Manchester United are reportedly open to selling the Brazilian and getting his massive wages off their books. His performances last season did not warrant the idea of keeping the experienced midfielder on board any longer. However, with Saudi Arabian interest, the club are keen on recouping a big chunk of the money they paid to sign him from Real Madrid two years ago.

At 32, Casemiro wants to continue playing at the highest levels and remains keen to challenge for trophies in Europe. He wants a good project, followed by a financially attractive offer, as per the report, which might be hard to come by in the current market, meaning the chances of Manchester United selling him might fall off.
