Arsenal unwilling to meet asking price for Victor Osimhen

Arsenal are not prepared to pay Napoli’s demand for Victor Osimhen’s full release clause, as they reportedly value the striker at €75 million.

According to Calcio Napoli 24, Arsenal are prepared to offer only about €75 million for Victor Osimhen, which is more than half of his release clause. The Nigerian striker has a release clause of €120 million or €130 million, depending on various reports, as the Gunners are not willing to pay that much.

Arsenal unwilling to pay Victor Osimhen’s release clause

Arsenal are in the market for a new striker, and they may have dipped their beaks while exploring different options already. From being one of the favourites to land Ivan Toney and Alexander Isak, the Gunners have taken a different route to track strikers from other leagues, as Victor Osimhen features on their shortlist.

For a few weeks now, Benjamin Sesko looked like their top target, but the Slovenian has since signed a contract extension that has probably allowed RB Leipzig to erase the previous release clause. Osimhen was on their list during that period, and the Gunners are still exploring the idea of bringing the Nigerian, although they are not prepared to pay his massive release clause

The clause has been reported to be either €120 million or €130 million, depending on the veracity of the reporting. Either way, Arsenal are not willing to pay that much and instead value him at around €75 million, which is over half of his exit terms on the Napoli contract.

Osimhen remains one of the formidable No.9s in the world, and this is why Napoli were hoping to sell him for the release clause. However, should no club come forward with a desired offer, then the Italian side might re-think their stance, which could boost the hopes of Arsenal.

Osimhen confident of Premier League move

Osimhen has reportedly rejected the overtures of Saudi Arabian clubs, who are reportedly willing to pay the release clause as well as offer him a lucrative deal. The Nigerian is confident about joining a Premier League side, and at this stage, he might hope it’s Arsenal for their presence in the Champions League.

He has been somewhat vocal about his desire to join Chelsea and remains hopeful of joining them. The Blues are unwilling to pay his release clause, and several reports have suggested they are not negotiating with Napoli. The big question right now is where Osimhen will be at the end of the transfer window, as he surely wants to leave the Italian side for a new challenge in his career.
