Manchester United might have an advantage in the race to sign 21-year-old Dutch playmaker Xavi Simons, a target for Arsenal, Barcelona, and Chelsea.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Xavi Simons is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are ready to accept a loan deal for the 21-year-old playmaker. That might hand them an advantage in the race to sign him, with Paris Saint-Germain only open to a temporary departure of the youngster, a target for Arsenal, Barcelona, and Chelsea.
Xavi Simons and his resurgence
Xavi Simons has resurrected his stuttering career in the last two seasons. A former trainee at FC Barcelona, the Dutchman completed his first move to Paris Saint-Germain to secure a quicker pathway to first-team football. However, regular game time with the senior team eluded him, and he joined PSV Eindhoven in July 2022.
The 21-year-old enjoyed an exceptional campaign at PSV Eindhoven before PSG came calling last summer. The Ligue 1 champions re-signed Simons for only €4 million before Les Parisiens loaned him out to RB Leipzig, where he amassed ten goals and 15 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions. The youngster’s exploits have alerted several high-profile clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona, and Manchester United.
A man in demand
The Dutch playmaker is reportedly eager to rejoin Barcelona in the summer transfer window. However, the Catalan outfit’s financial issues are stopping them from launching the offensive for the young attacker. As for Arsenal, Mikel Arteta wants more competition for places in the offensive department.
The Dutchman has thus emerged as a viable target for Arsenal. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s interest in Xavi Simons is understandable, even though his best position is through the middle. However, the PSG man can also play on the flanks, making him an appealing prospect for Chelsea.
But Manchester United have the advantage over Arsenal, Barcelona, and Chelsea in the race to secure Xavi Simons’s services. The Red Devils are open to a loan deal for the 21-year-old, with PSG also preferring another temporary departure in the summer transfer window.
