Liverpool establish contact to sign David Hancko

Liverpool are reportedly looking to improve their defensive options this summer by signing David Hancko from Feyenoord.

According to a report by Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness, Liverpool have are interested in signing David Hancko in the summer transfer window. The Reds have submitted an enquiry to sign the Feyenoord centre-back.

The 26-year-old defender has done quite well for the Eredivisie outfit, especially under Arne Slot. And he could be available for a fee of around €35 million. He has played under the newly appointed Liverpool manager Arne Slot, and a reunion could be an attractive opportunity for the player.

The left-sided central defender is capable of operating as a left-back as well. He could be the ideal versatile defensive option Liverpool are lacking right now. Hancko’s agent has previously spoken about the contacts with the Merseyside club.

Joel Matip is leaving Liverpool upon the expiry of his contract, and he will need to be replaced adequately. Hancko certainly has the quality to fill the void left by him. The Reds have also shown interest in other centre-backs, including Leny Yoro.

The opportunity to move to Liverpool will be an attractive one for the player. It would be a huge step up for him, and he would get to compete for major trophies at the Premier League club. Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and it will nit be a surprise if the defender is attracted to the possibility of joining them.

Hancko will look to make his mark in England

The Slovakian international is at the peak of his powers, and he has proven himself in Dutch football. He has the physical and technical attributes to do well in the Premier League as well. The reported €35 million asking price seems quite reasonable for a player of his qualities, and he could easily justify the investment in the coming seasons.

Liverpool looked vulnerable at the back last season, and they will have to improve in that department if they want to compete for major trophies and push Arsenal and Manchester City next season.

Hancko knows the philosophy of Slot well. So, it is fair to assume that he could settle in quickly and make an immediate impact at the English club. It remains to be seen with the Liverpool can get the deal done in the coming weeks.
