Liverpool losing hope in race to sign Leny Yoro

Premier League giants Liverpool’s prospects of signing Real Madrid defensive target Leny Yoro are reportedly dwindling.

According to David Lynch, Liverpool’s hopes of signing LOSC Lille defensive sensation Leny Yoro are fading. The Merseyside club are no longer confident about striking a deal for his services amidst interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Yoro has come up the ranks at the French club and has been a part of their first team since the summer of 2022. At 18, he is already a mainstay in the Lille team and his impressive rise hasn’t gone unnoticed.

In the 2023/24 season, he was involved in 44 matches, the teenager was a rock at the back and even scored three goals. With his contract running out in 12 months, there are high chances of a potential departure.

Liverpool keen but not confident

Liverpool are one of the clubs that have been closely monitoring the player’s progress and are keen on adding him to their squad. The Reds do not have much depth at the back and Yoro’s arrival could be a huge boost. He could be a useful addition to the rotation and eventually established himself as one of their mainstays.

While the Merseyside club have a very strong interest in the player, they are not very hopeful of signing him because of Real Madrid’s interest in him. The Reds are aware of how appealing Real Madrid’s offer could be for the teenage sensation.

LOSC Lille are ready to sanction his departure for €60 million but Los Blancos consider it to be a very high price for someone who can be a free agent in 12 months. They have no intentions of paying more than €30 million.

Leny Yoro to Real Madrid?

The Spanish club are aware of Liverpool’s interest but they are still willing to play the waiting game with the player keen on joining them. While Madrid and the player’s camp already have a hypothetical agreement over a move, the main issue remains the club’s asking price.

With Real Madrid not looking to enter a bidding war, Liverpool do have a clear route but they are still not confident as the player wants to make the move to the Spanish club. If Yoro insists on a move to Madrid, Lille might have to agree to a lower fee as they won’t want to risk losing out on him for free.
