Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing English defender Fikayo Tomori from Serie A club AC Milan this summer.
According to a report by Football Insider, Fikayo Tomori is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The Magpies are keen on signing another centre-back in the summer transfer window. And they have contacted the AC Milan defender’s representatives, hoping to bring the English international back to the Premier League.
Fikayo Tomori at AC Milan: The story so far
Fikayo Tomori has been one of the best defenders in Serie A since joining AC Milan from Chelsea in 2021. The English international could not become the undisputed first-choice centre-back for the West London club and looked to resurrect his stuttering career at the Serie A club.
The 26-year-old initially joined the Rossoneri on loan in January 2021 before completing a permanent move in the subsequent summer transfer window in a deal worth £25 million. Tomori helped AC Milan win the Serie A title in the 2021/22 season and has turned out nearly 150 times thus far for them while chipping in with seven goals and one assist.
The Englishman’s progress at AC Milan has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. A return to the Premier League might be on the cards, with Newcastle United keen on securing his services in the summer transfer window. Reports in the last few months have also linked him with other English bigwigs.
Premier League return in the pipeline?
Newcastle United’s interest in Fikayo Tomori is understandable. The Magpies are keen on signing another centre-back despite landing Lloyd Kelly in a Bosman move this week. With Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles out for the remainder of 2025, Newcastle United can do with a second centre-back signing.
So, several central defenders, including Dean Huijsen, have emerged on Newcastle United’s radar. However, Tomori is also a viable target for the Tyneside outfit. The latest update has revealed that the Magpies have contacted the English defender’s representatives over a possible move in the summer transfer window.
The next step will be to contact AC Milan and initiate discussions over a possible deal. It will be interesting to see if Tomori becomes the top target for Newcastle United to bolster the central defensive unit in the summer transfer window.
