Real Betis in contact to sign Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham Hotspur

Real Betis are in contact with Tottenham regarding a return for Giovani Lo Celso, as the Argentine seems destined to leave the club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Betis are in active contact with Tottenham for Giovani Lo Celso, as the Spanish side continues to work on a move for the Argentine. The midfielder seems destined to leave Spurs in the summer, and some other clubs are also showing mild interest.

Real Betis continue talks for Giovani Lo Celso

Spurs fans will remember midway through the season when it appeared Giovani Lo Celso came out of nowhere to stake a claim in the side. That run lasted only a few games before he was back among the fringes of Ange Postecoglou’s squad as a tricky summer approaches for the Argentine.

Le Celso will enter the final year of his deal in north London, and there’s an acceptance he will leave Tottenham in the window. The major problem for Spurs would be selling him for a price they feel the Argentine international warrants, with some suggestions insisting they want around £15 million for the midfielder.

Considering he’s not a regular for Spurs, no side in their right mind will want to pay that much, not least Real Betis. The Spanish side has faced financial troubles, and every window they have had to sell first before buying new talents, and that might be the case this time around.

Betis held talks earlier with Tottenham, and as per Fabrizio Romano, they have stayed in active conversation with their Premier League counterparts for the Argentine. There’s a feeling they will look to do outgoing business first before cementing their interest in Lo Celso, although they must act swiftly as some other sides may show an interest.

Who else are intersted in Lo Celso?

In truth, there’s a small amount of interest coming in for Lo Celso, although some reports suggested Aston Villa might be keen on making the move. Further stories have suggested the Argentine might be open to joining Villa, which will reunite him with former Villarreal boss Unai Emery.

Real Betis probably has the strongest interest, and hence, they are open to waiting for a while before making the decision. Lo Celso will be with the Argentine squad for the Copa America, meaning any transfer might have to wait until the Continental showdown ends in the USA.
