Fenerbahce keen on Mason Greenwood

Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce are interested in acquiring the services of Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood.

According to a report from The Sun, Mason Greenwood’s future at Old Trafford is uncertain, he is expected to be on the move in the upcoming transfer window and Fenerbahce have entered the race for his services following the arrival of Jose Mourinho at the club.

Greenwood had an impressive rise at Manchester United but things took a major turn when was arrested at the start of 2022. While the charges against him were later dropped, he did end up missing a significant amount of football. Following his return, United had an internal enquiry and decided that he should continue his career away from the club.

He ended up joining Getafe last summer on a season-long loan and managed to impress one and all with his performances for the Spanish club. He found the back of the net on 10 occasions and bagged six assists in his 36 outings.

His impressive return to football hasn’t gone unnoticed and numerous top clubs from across Europe are keen on having him in their squad. While he is back at United following the expiry of his loan, he is unlikely to have a future at Old Trafford.

United ready to sell, Fenerbahce keen

Sir Jim Ratcliffe did suggest that they could consider reinstating him in the team but it looks like they are ready to cash in on the 22-year-old winger. With his contract running out in the summer of 2025, it seems to be the right decision.

They could let Greenwood leave for a fee of around £50 million amidst interest from multiple top clubs. Turkish giants Fenerbahce have entered the race for his signature following the appointment of Jose Mourinho as their manager.

The Portuguese boss has worked with the United forward for a short period back in 2018. and would love to have him at his disposal. The Turkish club are looking to make the most of Mourinho’s presence on their bench to lure Greenwood to the club.

While the former Manchester United manager’s arrival has resulted in Fenerbahce entering the race for his services, they are unlikely to win the race as he is not keen on working with the 61-year-old. Since there is no shortage of interest, Greenwood will surely have options to choose from.
