Vincent Kompany wants Bayern Munich to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko

Vincent Kompany is reportedly pushing Bayern Munich to sign 27-year-old Arsenal utility man Oleksandr Zinchenko this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Oleksandr Zinchenko is the subject of interest from Bayern Munich. Vincent Kompany is driving the Bavarian club’s interest in the 27-year-old Arsenal utility man, who he wants to reunite at the Allianz Arena in the summer transfer window.

Oleksandr Zinchenko and his Arsenal journey

Oleksandr Zinchenko has been a reliable performer for Arsenal since arriving from Manchester City in July 2022. The Ukrainian international grew in stature during his stint at the Etihad, making a name for himself due to his ability to play as a left-back and a midfielder.

However, the 27-year-old endured a frustrating 2023/24 campaign, with injury playing spoilsport. So, Zinchenko managed only 2,082 minutes of game time across 35 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with one goal and two assists. The Arsenal utility man lost his spot as the first-choice left-back towards the end of the season, with Takehiro Tomiyasu usurping him.

That has paved the way for rumours that Oleksandr Zinchenko’s long-term future at Arsenal is uncertain. Recent reports have claimed that the North London club might listen to offers for the former Manchester City utility man. Such a situation has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, including Bayern Munich.

Bundesliga move on the horizon?

Bayern Munich’s interest in Oleksandr Zinchenko is understandable. The Bavarian giants are in a spot of bother over the long-term future of Alphonso Davies, who might join Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. So, it behoves Bayern Munich to consider signing a left-back in the summer transfer window.

Zinchenko has thus emerged as a viable target for Bayern Munich, with Vincent Kompany driving the club’s move for the 27-year-old Arsenal utility man. The newly-appointed manager wants to reunite with the player who was his teammate at Manchester City a few years ago.

Meanwhile, Zinchenko is not the only name on Kompany’s wishlist, with the new Bayern Munich manager also pushing Die Roten to sign Bruno Fernandes. It will be interesting to see if the Belgian tactician gets his wish to bring the two Premier League players to the Allianz Arena.
