Everton considering Max Lowe move

Everton will reportedly look to sign 27-year-old English full-back Max Lowe after he leaves Sheffield United as a free agent this summer.

According to a report by Football Insider, Max Lowe is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are scouring the market for multiple defenders heading into the summer transfer window. They have set their sights on the 27-year-old Sheffield United full-back.

Who is Max Lowe?

Max Lowe has endured a frustrating spell since joining Sheffield United from Derby County in September 2020. A native of South Normanton, he graduated from the Derby County youth division but had to bide his time before finding a stable footing in his career.

The 27-year-old was in and out of the starting lineup at Sheffield United in the last two years. The 2023/24 campaign was one to forget for Lowe, who could not even amass 500 minutes of game time in ten Premier League appearances. The Englishman’s frustrations at Bramall Lane are finally ending, as he will leave the club as a free agent on July 1.

Max Lowe’s impending free-agent status has made him an attractive target heading into the summer transfer window. And an immediate return to the Premier League might be on the cards, with Everton interested in completing a Bosman move for the English full-back.

Swift Premier League return on the horizon?

Everton’s interest in Max Lowe is intriguing. The Merseyside club will delve into the market for a centre-back amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Jarrad Branthwaite. However, they are also considering securing the services of a left-back in the summer transfer window.

While Vitaliy Mykolenko has been a solid performer for the Merseyside club, they can do with another top-quality option on the left flank. So, Lowe has emerged as a viable target, with his impending free-agent status making him an appealing target for Everton.

The Toffees are in a spot of bother over the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules. So, signing a free agent makes sense, considering he can be a high-value addition to the Everton squad. However, they might face stiff competition from an unnamed Premier League club for the 27-year-old English full-back.
