West Ham could miss out on a pair of Brazilian targets, Luis Guilherme and Fabricio Bruno, amid Saudi Arabia’s interest in them.
According to The Sun’s Jack Rosser, West Ham could return empty-handed from Brazil as they are on the verge of missing out on Luis Guilherme and Fabricio Bruno. Director Tim Steidtn was in Brazil to negoitiate deals for the duo, but owing to a sudden Saudi Arabia interest, the duo might not come to the London Stadium.
West Ham set to lose out on Brazilian duo?
West Ham made some early moves in the market by appointing Julen Lopetegui as David Moyes’s successor and sent Tim Steidt to Brazil to finalise early deals. The Hammers director has been busy negotiating moves for Fabricio Bruno and Luis Guilherme, while Corinthians talent Wesley Gassovo is also thought to be on their agenda.
Days after agreeing a fee with Flamengo for Bruno, the move appears to have stalled following the 28-year-old’s wage demands, as he wants around £100,000 a week. Had the Hammers agreed to those demands, he would have been one of the highest-paid players at the London Stadium, even more than Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Paqueta, and Jarrod Bowen.
On the other hand, Steidtn has been negotiating with Palmeiras for their talent Luis Guilherme, with the Hammers engaged in advanced talks for the teenage attacker. Earlier indications suggested Palmeiras had no interest in selling, but West Ham appeared to have found a way with an offer was expected to go through.
Some reports suggested Guilherme had agreed to personal terms with West Ham, as a move seemed imminent for the teenager as well as the defender for some time now. However, things have taken a drastic turn, as Saudi Arabian clubs may have entered the chase and presented the duo with exciting offers on the table.
Saudi Pro League clubs set to sign the Brazilian duo?
Which of the Saudi Pro League clubs is keen on Guilherme and Bruno remains to be seen, but they have certainly offered them plenty of money to turn down a chance to join West Ham United. In Bruno’s case, he was on £13,000 a week at Flamengo, and with his age, he might have shown an inclination towards a huge payday.
The puzzling fact about Guilherme, who is considered one of the most exciting talents to come out of Brazil, is why he wants to join the Saudi side. He has the whole career in front of him, as joining West Ham would have allowed him an entry into Premier League football and possibly a pathway to the future.
