Tottenham are ready to rival Crystal Palace for Jobe Bellingham, with Sunderland set to demand at least £20 million to sell.
According to Ed Aarons of The Guardian, Tottenham are among those in contention for Jobe Bellingham. They are ready to rival Crystal Palace for the 18-year-old Championship midfielder. Sunderland are not eager to sell, but should they eventually part ways, they will demand at least £20 million for the attacking midfielder.
Tottenham in tussle for Jobe Bellingham
Jobe Bellingham has followed in the footsteps of his older sibling Jude Bellingham in terms of his playing position, but he is unlikely to follow his brother in a career path. The 18-year-old Championship midfielder has attracted the interest of Borussia Dortmund, but it appears the Sunderland star will likely join a Premier League side.
The report names at least four teams in the running for the teenager, including Tottenham, who are now firmly in the race for the Sunderland star. Bellingham had an excellent first season with the Black Cats, making 45 appearances in the Championships and scoring seven goals.
Tottenham are eager to snap some of the best talents from around, and cannot ignore the possibility of bringing Bellingham to the club. He has proven the idea that the Premier League might be the next step in his career, as a move to Spurs might carry its appearance.
However, Spurs are probably a bit behind in the chase, as other clubs are already making steady enquiries for the 18-year-old Championship midfielder. They have to beat the growing competition for the teenager, with Sunderland not very eager to sell. They may have the power to hold on, as Bellingham still has four years left on his deal with the Black Cats.
Crystal Palace leading Bellingham chase?
Crystal Palace have been discussing a move for Bellingham, and despite Sunderland’s reluctance to sell, they might be ready to sell the teenager for a fee in excess of £20 million. Former side Birmingham City do hold a 15% sell-on clause, which could affect the midfielder’s asking price.
Palace are embarking on an exciting project under Oliver Glasner, although they are already in danger of losing two of their best stars, Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise. Adding a talent like Bellingham could potentially help them keep hold of the duo, as it does show good enough ambition for the season ahead.
