Celtic ready to offer £10 million to sign Caoimhin Kelleher

Celtic are ready to make an offer up to £10 million to sign priority goalkeeper target Caoimhin Kelleher, with Liverpool holding out for more.

According to Football Insider, Celtic are ready to test Liverpool’s resolve on Caoimhin Kelleher by making an offer of up to £10 million. The Hoops are eager to bring the 25-year-old on a priority basis to replace the outgoing Joe Hart. But the Merseysiders are set to hold on for more money than Celtic are about to offer.

Celtic to make £10 million Caoimhin Kelleher bid

Celtic will enter the summer market looking for a new goalkeeper to replace Joe Hart, who announced his retirement from competitive football. The former England international will leave ample space for the club to fill, as Caoimhin Kelleher appears like their priority target to replace him.

Kelleher’s situation is somewhat unusual at Liverpool, as he will once again begin the new season as their No.2 behind Alisson Becker. The 25-year-old did play 26 games last season in all competitions, mainly due to the Brazilian’s injury. But again, he has already hinted at a possible summer departure.

Celtic have been interested in Kelleher for some time now and was expected to be one of the first sides to make an opening offer. As it stands, they are formulating one, as the Hoops are reportedly willing to make a bid worth £10 million for the 25-year-old keeper.

Celtic may not have the power to offer more than that for a new keeper, as Liverpool are unlikely to accept a £10 million bid for Kelleher. The Reds have always sold their best talents for plenty of money, well above their market value, and the 25-year-old is no different.

Liverpool want more for Kelleher

As per previous reports, Liverpool want £20 million for Kelleher despite his second-choice status, which happens to be double what Celtic are prepared to pay. Should the Hoops fail to convince the Merseysiders of a deal for the 25-year-old, then they might have to look at other options.

Liverpool may not have too many worries about selling Kelleher, as other sides are keen on the keeper, including Wolves, according to a report. More teams could enter the equation once his actual asking price becomes clearer.
