Arsenal open to Oleksandr Zinchenko offers

Arsenal could consider offers coming in for Oleksandr Zinchenko after the left-back fell in the pecking order during the season.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal will be open to offers for Oleksandr Zinchenko. Reports suggest the left-back is unhappy with his current role, and a few clubs could come in with bids for the utility man. The Gunners will want to recoup more than the £30 million they paid two years ago.

Arsenal to sell Oleksandr Zinchenko?

Oleksandr Zinchenko had a strange season at Arsenal after multiple ups and downs at different stages of the campaign. The Ukrainian international offers something different from his left-back role, as he regularly plays more as a midfielder in Mikel Arteta’s system, which has given the team more control.

Arteta’s decision to sign Jurrien Timber and then use him predominantly as a left-back until his serious knee injury did give rise to a few questions about Zinchenko’s role. With the Dutchman’s prolonged absence, the Ukrainian did start the season as their first-choice left-back. Still, as the season progressed, and owing to some niggling injury-led absences, it did allow Jakub Kiwior and Takehiro Tomiyasu to stake a claim.

As the campaign ended, it was clear that Arteta preferred Tomiyasu as his preferred left-back, which has reportedly left Zinchenko unhappy. Now, Arsenal are seemingly open to considering offers for the Ukrainian and will expect to receive more than the £30 million plus add-ons they paid Manchester City two years ago.

Zinchenko might also consider leaving if Arteta fails to give him assurances about his role in the team ahead of the new season. The Gunners are already angling a move for options that Arteta can use as a centre-back or a left-back, meaning Zinchenko’s position could come into further doubt. In truth, the utility man still has a big role to play in certain games. But he may not be Aersenal’s main left-back option in the new season.

Who could sign Zinchenko?

Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in the full-back, with the idea of bringing him to replace Alphonso Davies, who could leave in the summer. A move to the German giants would make so much sense for Zinchenko, who could then stay at the top level.

However, other clubs like Newcastle United have previously shown interest. But Zinchenoko is unlikely to move down a level to continue playing. He still has a contract until 2026, meaning there’s no rush to make a move away from Arsenal.
