Barcelona, Girona in contact over deals for four players

Barcelona and Girona are reportedly in contact over summer deals for Eric Garcia, Oriol Romeu, Pablo Torre, and Pau Victor.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, La Liga top-four clubs Barcelona and Girona have initiated contacts over potential deals for Eric Garcia, Oriol Romeu, Pablo Torre, and Pau Victor in the summer transfer window. Victor will complete a permanent move to Barcelona, with the other three players moving the other way.

How did Eric Garcia, Pablo Torre, Oriol Romeu, and Pau Victor fare this season?

Eric Garcia has resurrected his stuttering fortunes since joining Girona on loan from Barcelona last summer. The Spanish international had dropped in the pecking order at the Catalan club, with his dream return to Barcelona turning into a nightmare. However, the move to Girona has helped him regain his confidence.

However, Pablo Torre has not enjoyed similar fortunes after being in and out of the side throughout the 2023/24 season. The Spaniard is struggling to fulfil his potential since leaving Racing Santander, with his first two seasons in La Liga not yielding the desired results.

As for Oriol Romeu, the experienced midfielder joined Barcelona from Girona last summer. He arrived at the club as a short-term replacement for Sergio Busquets after the former Spanish international joined Inter Miami. However, after a strong start to his second stint with Barcelona, he became a bit-part player for the Blaugrana.

Meanwhile, Pau Victor joined Barcelona on loan from Girona and made his mark for the reserve team this past season. A striker by trade, the 22-year-old can play across the frontline and amassed 19 goals and five assists in 36 appearances across all competitions this season. Victor’s exploits have compelled the Blaugrana to seek a permanent move in the summer transfer window.

However, the Catalan giants do not want to trigger the purchase clause in the loan deal and hope to execute a swap deal involving Eric Garcia or Oriol Romeu. However, recent reports have claimed that Girona will look to complete another loan deal for Garcia. Meanwhile, Romeu can seal a permanent move.

So, talks over the four players will resume between Barcelona and Girona after initiating contacts. It will be interesting to see if the two La Liga top-four clubs can seal their desired deals in the summer transfer window.
