Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace are closing in on the signature of Lazio attacking midfielder Daichi Kamada.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Daichi Kamada is all set to join Crystal Palace ahead of next season as a free agent. Talks regarding extending the Japanese international’s stay at Lazio have collapsed. His former Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner has convinced him to join the Eagles.
Kamada made the move to Germany back in the summer of 2017 after coming into prominence with Japanese club Sagan Tosu. He made a name for himself in European football while playing for Frankfurt before joining Lazio last summer as a free agent.
While he has featured in 38 matches for the Italian outfit, he hasn’t really been a regular in their first team and has only contributed towards four goals. He might not be an integral part of their first team at this stage but they do want him around.
He had only penned a one-year deal when he made the move to Lazio last summer. With his contract expiring in a month, the Italian outfit have been working hard to convince him to extend his stay. They feel his ability to feature anywhere in the centre of the park could do wonders for them in the long run.
New deal talks collapse, Kamada to join Crystal Palace
They were close to agreeing on a deal to extend his stay at the club but talks regarding a new deal have collapsed because both parties are not on the same page with regards to a release clause. Meanwhile, it seems Oliver Glasner has convinced him to join Crystal Palace as a free agent instead.
Glasner took charge of the Eagles back in February and he has done a great job so far. He wants to reinforce his squad ahead of next season and feels Kamada could be a great addition to their ranks having worked with him at Eintracht Frankfurt.
His arrival will give them a cover for Eberechi Eze and he could also be used in deeper roles when needed. The manager got on a call with his former player and seems to have persuaded him about the move to the Eagles. Kamada could soon complete a move to Crystal Palace as a free agent.
