Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United will have to act fast if they want to secure the services of RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo.
According to a report from Marca, Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United are all keen on acquiring the services of Dani Olmo. The RB Leipzig star does have a release clause in his contract but it has an expiry date which runs out in the coming weeks.
Olmo has gone from strength to strength since joining the German club in the winter of 2020. He has established himself as one of the mainstays in the team. In the 2023/24 season, the Spanish attacking midfielder has featured in 25 matches and has contributed with eight goals and five assists.
Manchester United and Liverpool keen on signing Olmo
His consistent performances over the years have resulted in a lot of interest in his services. Multiple clubs wanted to sign him last summer but he ended up penning down a new deal which runs until the summer of 2027. While they did manage to keep hold of their star for another season, his new deal also has a release clause worth €60 million.
The clause is why multiple teams are looking to secure his services ahead of next season. Manchester United and Liverpool are two English clubs keen on his signature. The Red Devils haven’t been good enough this season and they are looking to reinforce their squad in the summer.
The new owners are expected to make quite a few moves and signing a top forward will be one of them. Dani Olmo is one of their targets as he can feature in the centre and out wide on the flanks. Liverpool are also keen as they look to further reinforce their attack in an attempt to start the new era under Arne Slot in the best possible way.
Barcelona’s interest & the release clause expiry
Barcelona are also in the mix, they do want to re-sign the 26-year-old who was a part of their youth ranks back in the day. The Catalan giants want to reinforce their attack and they feel Olmo’s versatility could do wonders for them.
While the player might love to return back to his childhood club, their financial situation will make things difficult. They haven’t raised any funds yet and their wage bill has no space for the Leipzig star. Time is running out for the Spanish giants as the release clause in Olmo’s contract runs out on July 15.
Barcelona will have to raise funds in less than six weeks to sign the Spanish international which looks difficult. The English clubs will also have to act fast if they want to secure his services. If neither manages to trigger the clause, Leipzig will then be able to demand any fee they feel is right for their star player. Meanwhile, Olmo wants his future resolved as soon as possible.
