Crystal Palace and Fulham are reportedly interested in signing 27-year-old Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat after his Manchester United loan ends.
According to a report by The Sun, Sofyan Amrabat is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace and Fulham. The two London clubs have dispatched scouts to watch the 27-year-old in action in recent weeks. But they will have to approach Fiorentina for a move in the summer transfer window as Manchester United will not convert the loan deal into a permanent transfer.
Sofyan Amrabat and his Manchester United travails
Sofyan Amrabat has endured a frustrating 2023/24 campaign since joining Manchester United on loan from Fiorentina on Deadline Day of last summer’s transfer window. The Moroccan international had pushed for the move after several other European heavyweights also mulled over a deal.
However, the 27-year-old has barely featured for Manchester United in the 2023/24 season, managing only 1,386 minutes of game time across 28 appearances in all competitions. So, it is hardly surprising that Manchester United will not complete a permanent move for Amrabat in the summer transfer window.
Amrabat will return to Fiorentina in the summer transfer window after his loan deal with Manchester United ends. However, he will unlikely represent the Serie A club next season, with several well-known clubs keen on signing him. And an extended stay in the Premier League might be on the cards, with Crystal Palace and Fulham interested in him.
Will Amrabat extend his stay in the Premier League?
Crystal Palace’s interest in Sofyan Amrabat is understandable. The Eagles are keen on bolstering their midfield department in the summer transfer window. Recent reports have linked Adam Wharton with several high-profile clubs. While Crystal Palace will unlikely entertain offers for Wharton, Will Hughes and Jeffrey Schlupp face an uncertain future at Selhurst Park. So, Amrabat is a viable target for the South London club.
As for Fulham, Joao Palhinha’s long-term future remains the subject of concern for the West London club. So, it behoves Fulham to scour the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window.
Other well-known outfits have also shown interest in the 27-year-old. So, while Sofyan Amrabat’s spell with Manchester United will end in disappointment, he might remain in the Premier League beyond the summer transfer window.
