Manchester United have reportedly established contact over a possible summer move for AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana.
According to a report by Dylan McBennett for Attacking Football, Youssouf Fofana is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils have established contact over a possible move for the AS Monaco midfielder. Meanwhile, the Ligue 1 outfit will demand around £25 million to part ways with the French international in the summer transfer window.
Youssouf Fofana and his rise at AS Monaco
Youssouf Fofana has been one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1 since joining AS Monaco from RC Strasbourg in January 2020. A native of Paris, he began his youth career in his home city before graduating from the RC Strasbourg youth division. However, the 25-year-old has found a stable foothold during his stint with AS Monaco.
The Frenchman has turned out 174 times thus far for AS Monaco, chipping in with seven goals and 15 assists across all competitions. Fofana’s exploits with the principality club have also helped him establish a foothold in the French national side, making 17 appearances for Les Bleus.
However, Fofana’s long-term future at AS Monaco is uncertain as he will enter the final year of his contract in July. Such a situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Manchester United.
