Liverpool have reportedly scouted Italian international Federico Chiesa ahead of a potential transfer in the summer.
According to a report from HITC, Liverpool are looking at ways to reinforce their squad ahead of next season, and Juventus’s Federico Chiesa is one of the names on their radar. The Italian winger is amongst the best forwards in Serie A, and the Merseyside club are considering making a move for him in the summer.
Chiesa’s time at Juventus
Chiesa’s impressive rise at Fiorentina resulted in a move to Juventus in 2020. It was an initial loan deal which was made permanent in the summer of 2022. While he did have a bright start at the Series A club, injuries have troubled him over the years.
The 26-year-old missed a handful of games because of injuries last season. But, things have improved a touch this term as he has managed to stay fit throughout and also has 11 goals contributions (8 goals, 3 assists). Chiesa is one of the best forwards in the Italian top flight, but his future at Juventus is not certain.
His current deal runs out in the summer of 2025. While talks about a renewal have been on for a while, the Old Lady have not managed to extend his stay at the club yet. The Serie A giants could look to sanction his departure in the summer as they might not want to risk losing out on him for free next summer.
Liverpool keen on signing Chiesa
Liverpool are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks. The Reds have been monitoring him for a few years now, and they recently scouted him ahead of a potential transfer in the summer. Representatives of the Merseyside club were present in the stands to watch Juventus beat Atalanta in the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday.
Chiesa was one of the players the Liverpool scouts had their eyes on. The Merseyside club’s watchers were once again impressed by the 26-year-old’s performance, and they could move for his signature soon. He prefers playing out wide on the left but can start anywhere in the final third. He could make the Reds a lot more threatening going forward. As a result, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool actually put forward an offer for the Juventus star.
