Newcastle United play down rumours of Anthony Gordon exit

Newcastle United are not interested in selling Anthony Gordon amid Liverpool links, as they plan the future around the England International.

According to TBR, Newcastle United are not even remotely considering the possibility of selling Anthony Gordon in the summer. The Magpies are keen to build their future teams around the 11-goal Liverpool target, as they are fighting to hold on to their other key assets, too.

Anthony Gordon is not for sale

Newcastle United has had a few difficult weeks, dismissing reports for many of their critical stars who are departing the club in the summer. The Magpies are mentioned as being close to breaching PSR rules, which might force them to sell a few of their big stars in the summer to balance their financial books.

They have seen Arsenal linked to Alexander Isak, with the Magpies reportedly not interested in a sale of the Swedish striker. Things could change with the former Real Sociedad man should he reject overtures of a new contract from the Magpies, in which case, the club might consider offers.

Then there’s Bruno Guimaraes and his big links with many top clubs within England and abroad. Once again, Newcastle are uninterested in selling the Brazilian, although should any club trigger his reported release clause, things won’t be under the club’s control.

One player they have control over is Anthony Gordon, with the 11-goal Liverpool target also one of those the club is not considering letting go of in the summer. Gordon has been brilliant since his arrival in January 2023 and has become a crucial part of Eddie Howe’s side this season. Hence, the Magpies are not even remotely considering those Liverpool links and will fight hard to keep him.

Newcastle will build around Gordon

Newcastle are ambitious and want to make a return to the Champions League next season. They are also pencilled in to qualify for one of the other European competitions for next season, and they will aim to win it. Hence, while Liverpool might consider Gordon as a replacement for Luis Diaz, they might have to concede defeat as the Magpies are not interested in a sale.

They are keen to build their future around players like Gordon and Isak, and hence, even if teams like Liverpool offer big money, they might say no.
