Newly-crowned Serie A champions Inter Milan will reportedly look to sign Donny van de Beek from Manchester United this summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Donny van de Beek is the subject of interest from Inter Milan. Other European regulars like Galatasaray and Real Sociedad are also keen on signing the disgruntled Dutch playmaker from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Donny van de Beek and a failed Manchester United transfer
Donny van de Beek has endured a frustrating spell since joining Manchester United from Ajax in a deal worth €39 million in September 2020. The 27-year-old would have hoped to be a regular feature for Manchester United in the middle of the park. However, he has barely started any games for the Red Devils in the last four years.
The Dutchman would have hoped for better fortunes under the tutelage of Erik ten Hag, his former manager at Ajax. However, game time continued to elude van de Beek before he joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan from Manchester United in the January transfer window.
The move to the Bundesliga has not worked either, with van de Beek managing only 357 minutes of game time at Eintracht Frankfurt. So, it is hardly surprising that widespread reports have claimed the disgruntled Dutch playmaker will not complete a permanent move to Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer transfer window. However, an adventure in Serie A might be on the cards.
Italy beckons?
The report by Fichajes has claimed that Donny van de Beek is the subject of interest from Inter Milan. The newly-crowned Serie A champions are scouring the market for a midfielder, which makes sense, considering Henrikh Mkhitaryan is on the wrong side of 30. So, it behoves Inter to plan for life after the former Manchester United playmaker.
The disgruntled Dutchman has thus emerged as a viable target, with Inter Milan ready to compete with Galatasaray and Real Sociedad for his signature. Meanwhile, recent reports have also linked van de Beek with his former club, Ajax.
However, the Dutch playmaker’s agent has recently suggested that he will not return to Ajax in the summer transfer window. In addition, the 27-year-old can play in the UEFA Champions League football next season if he joins Inter Milan.
