Aston Villa submit offer for Gabri Veiga

Aston Villa have reportedly made a verbal offer to Gabri Veiga ahead of the summer with links over leaving the Saudi Pro League.

According to Qatar-based outlet Al Kass, Gabri Veiga has received at least two verbal proposals ahead of the summer, with Aston Villa being one of those making the offer. His current side, Al-Ahli are not interested in a sale, but things could change should the player look to make a return back to the continent.

Aston Villa make a verbal proposal to Gabri Veiga

Gabri Veiga was probably one of the big surprises of last season, and he shocked plenty of his suitors by taking up an offer from Saudi side Al-Ahli. The Saudi Pro League side reportedly paid Celta Vigo’s asking price of around €30 million and took him on a decent enough contract. The move was significant considering the many top clubs keen on signing the 21-year-old Spanish midfielder.

There have been plenty of reports linking Veiga back to European football, and now it appears the 21-year-old Spanish midfielder already has some critical offers on the table. As per Qatar-based outlet Al Kaas, Veiga has verbal proposals from Atletico Madrid as well as Aston Villa.

The latter, managed by Unai Emery, wants to bring the 21-year-old Spanish midfielder to the Premier League with the promise of developing him into a major star. Aston Villa are in need of solid reinforcements ahead of a new season where they will potentially play in the Champions League, with Emery keen on players with hunger and desire.

Al-Ahli are uninterested in a sale of the 21-year-old Spanish midfielder, but should he ask to leave, he might end up costing a lot more than he purchased last summer. Aston Villa certainly have the financial means as well as a shrewd negotiator in Monchi to get complicated deals over the line.

Aston Villa looking at other young attackers

Emery wants to bring some notable young names into the mix for next season, as they are also in the mix for Michael Olise. Given that there are other more prominent sides in the chase for the Frenchman, Villa might still have a chance if they had a significant role for the Crystal Palace star as well as the financial offer to tempt him.

Emery also wants one of his former Villarreal stars in Alex Baena, with Aston Villa strongly linked with the Spanish attacking midfielder. Together with either of those targets, or even Athletic Club’s Nico Williams and Gabri Veiga, Emery hopes to build a strong foundation of young and experienced players ahead of the new season.
