Napoli line up summer move for Radu Dragusin

Napoli are keen to bring Radu Dragusin back to Serie A after the defender’s agent warned of a change if his situation remained the same.

According to The Sun, Napoli could be making a quick move for Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin in the upcoming window. The Romanian international has not seen much game time since making his move from Genoa in January, which has left his agent frustrated, with Spurs reportedly demanding nearly double what they paid at around £40 million.

Napoli eye Radu Dragusin move

Tottenham fought many suitors to bring Radu Dragusin from Genoa in a £21.5 million deal in January. Bayern Munich failed with a hijack for the defender, who reportedly chose Spurs over them and probably others. However, his time here since the transfer has been dismal, as he has only managed 244 minutes of Premier League action, including just two starts.

Ange Postecoglou has preferred Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven as his main central defenders. Even when they have missed key full-backs through injury, the Australian tactician did not revert to using his centre-backs there, including Dragusin. His agent has grown frustrated with his plight and warned his client that he could angle a change in the near future should the situation remain the same.

He recently said, “I can say that if Postecoglou told Dragusin that he is only considered an alternative to the other centre-backs, then he would not stay just to sit on the bench. If he doesn’t play, then we have to think about other solutions.”

Napoli are seemingly interested in signing the Tottenham defender, as they could offer him a chance of returning to Serie A. The Romanian was excellent for Genoa during his time here, and now, should his situation remain the same at Spurs, the defender might even consider a move to Naples if the conditions are right.

Napoli are eager to bring a key defender in place after a dismal season and would not mind taking the former Genoa star, who knows the league well. The Serie A giants had a disastrous campaign and could end outside of the European places at the end of the season.

Tottenham want double for Dragusin

Considering Tottenham paid about £21.5 million, the report suggests they want nearly double that, around £40 million, to sell him in the summer. This demand has come despite the fact that the Romanian defender has only played a handful of minutes compared to other centre-backs in the squad, which will call for interested clubs like Napoli to drive a hard bargain.

However, Spurs are not keen to sell him in the first place and would only do so if the player agitates for a move, which might be the case considering his agent’s comments about the situation in north London.
