Franco Mastantuono only thinking about joining Real Madrid

Franco Mastantuono reportedly has his heart set on joining Real Madrid amid his links with Premier League club Chelsea.

According to Daily Briefing, Franco Mastantuono is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The 16-year-old wonderkid is also a target for Chelsea, with the Premier League club submitting an enquiry for him. However, the River Plate whizkid has his heart set on joining Real Madrid over his other suitors.

The advent of Franco Mastantuono

Franco Mastantuono has become the talk of the town in the South American market in the last few weeks. A native of Azul, he began his youth career at his hometown club, River de Azul, joining the youth division as a four-year-old. A short spell at Club Cemento followed before the Argentine prodigy joined River Plate in 2019.

Since then, the 16-year-old has come leaps and bounds, establishing himself as one of the best young prospects in South America. And he has already broken into the first-team squad at River Plate, turning out 11 times while finding the back of the net twice. Meanwhile, Mastantuono’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.

Widespread reports have linked the teenage sensation with heavyweight outfits in Serie A, the Premier League, and La Liga. However, the River Plate wonderkid has his heart set on joining Real Madrid, with Chelsea also submitting an enquiry to secure his services.

Where will Mastantuono land?

Chelsea’s interest in Franco Mastantuono is understandable. The project under the Todd Boehly-led regime has focused on creating a core group of young players who can serve the West London club for a decade. The Blues have also signed many prodigies from South America, including Kendry Paez and Angelo Gabriel. But Chelsea will likely lose the race to sign Mastantuono.

The 16-year-old is keen on joining Real Madrid, with Los Blancos drafting the plan to sign him. The Merengues have a rich history of signing world-class prospects from South America, with Federico Valverde, Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo, among others, rising in prominence during Florentino Perez’s ongoing reign as the Real Madrid president.

With Mastantuono eager to join Real Madrid, an agreement might be on the cards, although he will only arrive in Europe next year after turning 18. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea or some other suitor can turn the youngster’s head.
