Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing 26-year-old Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke in the summer transfer window.
According to Give Me Sport, Newcastle have already initiated contact with fellow Premier League club Bournemouth regarding a move for Dominic Solanke.
Solanke is at the peak of his career right now, and he has been outstanding in the Premier League. The former Chelsea and Liverpool striker has 20 goals across all competitions this season (18 in the Premier League). So, it is no surprise that Newcastle have been keen on securing his signature this year. They will need to sign a quality striker at the end of the season.
Newcastle United have been overly dependent on Alexander Isak for goals. Callum Wilson has been a quality player for them, but his availability remains a concern. He has had his fair share of injury problems, and Newcastle United need to add more depth to that position.
Solanke will certainly be tempted to move to St. James’ Park if the opportunity presents itself. The Englishman has worked under Eddie Howe in the past, and a reunion could be on the cards this summer.
The Cherries will not want to lose their star player anytime soon. But they could be powerless to stop him from leaving in Newcastle come forward with a lucrative proposal. The Magpies are one of the wealthiest clubs in the world, and they have an ambitious project. Solanke will be tempted to join them and push for trophies in the coming seasons.
Newcastle United need to sign a quality striker
Newcastle United have endured a disappointing 2023/24 season, and they will miss out on UEFA Champions League qualification. The Tyneside outfit will look to bounce back strongly, and improving the squad during the summer transfer window will be their priority. Signing a quality partner for Alexander Isak will not only improve Newcastle going forward, it would also help share the goal scoring burden with the Swedish international.
Apart from a quality striker, Newcastle should look to invest in a quality central midfielder who can control the tempo of the game and a reliable central defender to start alongside Sven Botman in the long run.
Bournemouth have been quite impressive this season, but they will not compete in Europe or push for trophies in the coming seasons. Therefore, the opportunity to move to Newcastle will be hard to turn down. It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can finalise an agreement for Solanke in the coming weeks.
