According to a report from FC Inter News, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are now facing a losing battle in their pursuit of Alessandro Buongiorno. The Italian defender wants to move across Serie A by joining Inter Milan despite links with the two Premier League clubs.
It seems that the 24-year-old is ready to continue in Italian football. The defender is valued at €40 million, and Tottenham and Newcastle certainly have the financial muscle to pay that kind of money for him. However, convincing him is proving to be a major challenge.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham and Newcastle decide to test their luck and submit an offer for him in the summer. The 24-year-old defender has proven himself to be one of the most reliable defenders in Serie A, and he could prove to be a superb acquisition for all three teams.

Tottenham and Newcastle have the financial resources to offer him a more lucrative contract than Inter Milan. However, they will not be able to offer him Champions League football for the next season. Both teams are likely to miss out on Champions League qualification, and that could be a major blow while pursuing Buongiorno.
