32-year-old Italian midfield star Jorginho is all set to extend his stay at Arsenal with the club offering him a new deal.
According to The Athletic, Jorginho is now expected to continue at Arsenal beyond the upcoming summer transfer window. While there has been a lot of uncertainty around his future, the 32-year-old has been offered a new deal and he is expected to put pen to paper.
After a few impressive seasons with Chelsea where he won the Europa League as well as the Champions League, Jorginho parted ways with the Blues to join rivals Arsenal in the winter of 2023. Since making the move to the Gunners, he has featured in 51 matches and has been an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s first team.
The Spanish manager has relied on the 52-cap Italian international in crucial moments and he hasn’t disappointed him. He has been a great asset to the team on and off the pitch.
Jorginho to extend his stay at Arsenal
With Jorginho’s contract at Arsenal running out in the summer, there has been a lot of uncertainty around his future. While he has been involved in 35 matches this term, the 32-year-old has been restricted to under 1,700 minutes of first-team football.
The limited game time is another major reason why he has been linked with a move away from the club. Irrespective of the talks around, the Gunners have offered the Italian international a new deal. While details of the offer have not been made public yet, they are looking to have him in their ranks for at least another season.
Despite him only getting limited game time, people at the club feel he is quite important to their plans moving ahead. His experience and his presence on and off the pitch are quite important for them. And, that is why they are keen on extending his stay at the club.
The 32-year-old is well aware of the fact that Arteta relies on him and he has talked about it in the recent past. He wants to continue at the North London club and is expected to sign the new offer that has been presented to him.
