Manchester City will reportedly compete with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur for 19-year-old Norwegian attacking talent Antonio Nusa.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Antonio Nusa is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Premier League champions are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window. However, they will face stiff competition from Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Antonio Nusa: The latest Norwegian sensation
Antonio Nusa is the latest in the long list of highly-rated Norwegian prospects to create hope for a bright future for the national side. The country has witnessed the rise of Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard in the last half a decade. However, prodigies like Nusa, Andreas Schjelderup, and Oscar Bobb have also risen in prominence.
A native of Langhus, Nusa spent most of his formative years in his homeland before joining Club Brugge in August 2021. Since then, he has come leaps and bounds at the Belgian club. The 19-year-old has enjoyed a decent 2023/24 campaign, chipping in with four goals and four assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. However, his progress has alerted several top clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Tottenham considered a winter deal for Nusa before it failed to materialise. They remain keen on him amid the club’s search for a wide attacker. As for Chelsea, they wanted to secure the youngster’s services in last summer’s transfer window. However, the player rejected Chelsea’s advances over a possible move.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s interest in Antonio Nusa stems from the need to sign more attackers. Mikel Arteta advocates having two world-class options for every position in his squad. However, he does not have a viable backup to Bukayo Saka and can do with the Club Brugge talent, who can play across the frontline.
However, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham face stiff competition from Barcelona, with Manchester City keen on securing his services. With Jack Grealish facing an uncertain future at the Etihad, the Premier League champions can do with a viable attacker. So, Nusa is an option worth considering for Manchester City.
Manchester City’s presence in the equation might complicate matters for his other suitors. So, it will be interesting to see if Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham can beat City to Antonio Nusa’s signature in the summer transfer window.
