Tottenham are open to paying the €40 million asking price for Alessandro Buongiorno, as a defender could leave Torino in the summer.
According to Fichajes, Tottenham are open to matching Torino’s asking price for Alessandro Buongiorno and paying the €40 million fee to sign the 24-year-old defender. The Italian international also has the interest of some Serie A giants, but Spurs could revive their network in Italy to get the transfer through.
Tottenham to pay Alessandro Buongiorno’s asking price
When the campaign ends, Ange Postecoglou will reflect on the current season and reevaluate his defensive ranks to make some changes. The Australian will likely want critical additions to his backline, including a new central defender and a left-back.
Postecoglou will want a left-footed centre-back, a profile his squad currently needs to improve. Spurs have suffered when Micky van de Ven suffered long hauls out of the game, and hence, a left-footed centre-back seems imperative as Tottenham’s next step towards squad building.
Italy international Alessandro Buongiorno is a target, with Tottenham now ready to pay his €40 million asking price for the Torino man. The 24-year-old defender will fit Postecoglou’s requirement for a left-footed centre-back, who is also interested in some of Serie A’s big clubs.
Postecoglou will push for such a signing and make sure Spurs make the deal early in the window. They also have sights on other defenders in the same mould, but the 24-year-old defender might be their priority target amid repeated links to the Torino man.
Tottenham eyeing defensive clearout
Tottenham have many players they would like to eliminate, including defensive stars Emerson Royal, Sergio Reguilon and probably Ben Davies. Hence, they will also want a new left-back to compete and cover for Destiny Udogie.
Tosin Adarabioyo is also an option, with the central defender available on a free transfer and attracting plenty of interest. Meanwhile, more players will be linked for the right-back and left-back slots as we enter the summer window. For now, they might want to bring one player at a time, and Buongiorno might be the one if they can swiftly agree on a deal with Torino.
