Liverpool scout 25-year-old Manchester United target Victor Gyokeres ahead of a potential move in the summer.

According to a report by HITC, Liverpool are interested in acquiring the services of Victor Gyokeres as they look to bolster their attack ahead of next season. The 25-year-old Swedish striker has been on fire in the ongoing season and there is a lot of interest in him.

Gyokeres’ form & Manchester United’s interest

Gyokeres joined Sporting CP last summer from Coventry City. He has been in sensational form since making the move to Portugal. He has featured in 45 matches and has contributed towards 54 goals in his debut season. The 25-year-old has found the back of the net on 38 occasions.

His exceptional performances have attracted a lot of attention. While his contract with Sporting runs until the summer of 2028, clubs will try to prise him away in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Manchester United are one of the clubs that have been linked with the Swedish international. The Red Devils want to sign a new number nine who can support Rasmus Hojlund. They want to sign a proven striker who can guarantee goals. With Anthony Martial likely to part ways with the club, Gyokeres could be a great replacement.

But, they will face competition from Liverpool for the signatures of the 25-year-old. The Reds are looking to further bolster their attack ahead of next season and they are interested in having Gyokeres in their squad.

Scouts of the Merseyside club were present in the stands to watch Sporting CP square up against Vitoria de Guimaraes on Sunday. While the Reds also admire the likes of Goncalo Inacio and Morten Hjulmand, this time around their major focus was on the 25-year-old Swedish striker.

The former Coventry star put up an impressive show in front of the scouts as he scored twice and helped his team win 3-0 on the night. Since Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim is the leading candidate to take over from Jurgen Klopp as the Reds’ manager, there are high chance that Gyokeres could follow him to Anfield.

Liverpool are not one of the clubs that sign players purely at the behest of the manager. As a result, they are doing their own checks to ensure he is a perfect fit for the club.
