Fulham will reportedly look to sign 56-cap Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat in a deal worth €30 million after his Manchester United flop show.
According to a report by Tutto Mercato Web, Sofyan Amrabat is the subject of interest from Fulham. The 27-year-old will leave Manchester United after his loan spell ends, having been a disastrous signing for the Red Devils. Meanwhile, the Cottagers are ready to cough up €30 million to sign him from Fiorentina in the summer transfer window.
Sofyan Amrabat and his Manchester United travails
Sofyan Amrabat has endured a horrific spell at Manchester United since arriving on loan from Fiorentina on Deadline Day of last summer’s transfer window. The Red Devils have endured a dreadful 2023/24 campaign, with Erik ten Hag’s tactics doing the Moroccan midfielder no favours.
The 27-year-old has managed only 1,169 minutes of game time across 23 appearances in all competitions thus far this season. While Amrabat’s former FC Utrecht manager’s tactics have not worked in his favour, he has also lacked conviction in his performances. So, it is hardly surprising that Manchester United will not complete a permanent move in the summer transfer window.
Amrabat is not keen on continuing his stint at Manchester United either. The 56-cap Moroccan international has grown frustrated with every passing week at Old Trafford. However, he will unlikely continue at Fiorentina beyond the summer transfer window as there is bad blood with the club after La Viola refused to sell him to Barcelona last summer. However, Fulham might give him an escape route.
London calling?
Fulham’s interest in Sofyan Amrabat is somewhat surprising. With the 27-year-old not showing any signs of becoming a top Premier League midfielder, the West London club might be taking a risk. However, amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Joao Palhinha, they need a potential replacement.
The report has claimed that the Cottagers are preparing a bid worth €30 million to secure Amrabat’s services in the summer transfer window. The 56-cap Moroccan international’s loan deal with Manchester United also contains a purchase option worth €30 million.
So, a bid in the region of that amount should be enough for Fulham to prise Amrabat away from Fulham. However, it will be interesting to see if La Viola’s demands for the midfielder’s transfer fee increase.
