Newcastle United are chasing Boca Juniors’ South American duo Kevin Zenon and Nicolas Velentini, who are available cheaply.
According to HITC, Newcastle United have set sights on South American duo Kevin Zenon and Nicolas Valentini ahead of the summer. The midfielder and defender play for Boca Juniors, and their contractual situation makes them considerably cheap signings, especially for the Magpies, who have cash-flow troubles.
Newcastle United eye South American duo
Boca Juniors suddenly has the attention of many top clubs for some of its exciting stars. The Argentine side is bracing for offers in the summer, with crucial star Aaron Anselmino already emerging on Manchester United’s shortlist.
There are others like Kevin Zenon and Nicolas Valentini, with the South American duo now chased by Newcastle United. The Premier League side is angling moves for players in some key positions, but they are not particularly looking to spend big. Zenon has a £10 million release clause in his contract, something the Magpies could trigger when the summer window comes along.
They are particularly keen on Valentini, the young defender who has proven his worth for Boca Juniors over a considerable period. The big part of the chase is the defender’s expiring contract, which ends in December, which could enable Newcastle United to bring him on a cut-price deal.
Boca are not overly happy about losing many of their players in one window and may force the issue by offering new contracts for more significant financial gain. For instance, Anselmino is also available for £15 million due to a release clause, and now they are in danger of losing Valentini and Zenon.
Newcastle United are looking for new defenders
Newcastle United may have had plans to bring in a new central defender, but their recent issue has forced the issue, and now they are targeting multiple names. Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo remains a big target on a free transfer, while Bournemouth’s Llyod Kelly, also available on a Bosman move, has emerged on their radar.
The Magpies recently lost Sven Botman and Jamal Lascelles to long-term knee problems that they could miss around 9-10 months of action. Hence, without spending too much, if they can sign players that fill the gap left by the duo, Newcastle can focus the main part of their transfer budget on bringing in a new midfielder and striker alongside strengthening other positions.
