Fabrizio Romano thinks Charlie Patino could leave Arsenal in the summer, with no talks between the parties over a new deal.
Fabrizio Romano on Caught Offside tipped Charlie Patino to leave Arsenal in the summer window after a decent season in the Championship. The 20-year-old is not in talks with the Gunners about a new deal, as he will return to north London with a year left on his current agreement.
Charlie Patino to leave Arsenal?
Charlie Patino is considered one of the brightest prospects to come out of the Hale End Academy in recent years. The midfielder, who proved he could become a future star, scored on his Arsenal debut during a League Cup encounter over two years ago.
In recent campaigns, he has gone on loan spells to Blackpool and then last summer to Swansea. At the latter, he was good in the first part of the season but has struggled for minutes since the turn of the year. In fact, the 20-year-old Arsenal whizkid has made only one start in the Championship for the Swans in 2024, which has reduced his influence.
There have been rumours that Patino wants his agent to find a new club, as internally, he does not feel there’s a chance to make it at Arsenal. Mikel Arteta rates him highly, but the 20-year-old Arsenal whizkid may not find a way into the current midfield setup, which may see further additions in the summer.
Some clubs are keen, like Juventus, who have been watching him since January, and others could line up a move should Arsenal make their intention clear. Fabrizio Romano thinks Patino might leave the club in the summer, as there are no talks taking place between the two parties over a new contract. When the season ends, the midfielder will have a year left on his current agreement.
Romano said, “At the moment, there are no talks between Charlie Patino and Arsenal over a new deal. So it’s a possibility for the young midfielder to leave the club in the summer, but I’m told that final decision will be made at the end of the season when there will be talks with the player’s representatives. Let’s see how that conversation will go.”
Where can Patino go?
With Juventus one of the clubs keen, Patino might prefer a move to Turin over other suitors. Despite his advancing contract, Arsenal would still seek a decent fee from his sale, as they can post it as pure profit due to his homegrown status.
Should he decide to find a Premier League side as his next club, there’s interest from Fulham, who are considering making a move for the 20-year-old Arsenal whizkid. Hence, when the summer window opens, Patino will have a lot of options to consider, including remaining in England and even playing abroad.
