AC Milan interested in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Tottenham set price

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a summer move away from Tottenham Hotspur, with AC Milan interested in him.

A report by Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness has claimed that AC Milan are keen on signing the Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Tottenham have already set an asking price of around €18-20 million for the Denmark international.

Hojbjerg was a key player for Tottenham under Antonio Conte but has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou. It is evident that the Australian does not fancy him, and the Dane is not a good fit for the style of play. The former Southampton captain needs to play regularly at this stage of his career, and an exit from Tottenham would be ideal for him.

Hojbjerg could prove to be a bargain for AC Milan

AC Milan are certainly one of the biggest clubs in Europe, and the opportunity to join them could be an attractive one for the player. The 28-year-old is at the peak of his powers, and he could make an instant impact in Italian football. His skill set could be a good fit for Serie A as well.

Milan need to add more quality and depth in the middle of the park, and the 28-year-old will add control, composure and defensive cover to the side. He has proven himself in the Premier League with clubs like Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur and is certainly good enough for Milan.

The reported asking price seems quite reasonable for a player of his experience and ability. He could easily justify the investment in the long run. Milan have done well to sign some bargains from the Premier League in recent seasons, and Hojbjerg would be another quality acquisition for them if they manage to get the deal done.

Tottenham have employed a free-flowing attacking brand of football under the Australian manager this season, and Hojbjerg’s conservative style of play has pushed him down the pecking order at the North London club. Tottenham are now hoping to bring in a more progressive central midfielder, and it remains to be seen whether they can bring in the right additions in the summer.
