Tottenham want £20-25 million to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to sanction the departure of their 28-year-old midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for a fee of £20-25 million.

According to a report by Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the upcoming summer transfer window. The 28-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the North London club, and they are looking to raise funds by sanctioning his departure.

After proving himself at Southampton, Hojbjerg joined Spurs in the summer of 2020 for a reported fee of £15 million. He has been an important part of their first team since arriving at the club. The Danish international featured in 44 games last season where he racked up close to 3,900 minutes.

But, things have changed drastically after the arrival of Ange Postecoglou. He has fallen down the pecking order under the Australian boss. While he might have featured in 31 matches, he only has a total of just over 1,100 minutes of first-team football.

The 28-year-old, who has amassed nearly 250 Premier League appearances, is frustrated with the lack of minutes and is looking for a move elsewhere. He was closing in on an exit in the winter transfer window. But, it did not happen because of Tottenham’s high loan fee demands.

With his contract running out in the summer of 2025, Tottenham are ready to sanction his departure in the summer. While Hojbjerg will only have a year left on his deal with the North London club, they are still looking to raise significant funds with his departure.

According to the report, Tottenham will let him leave for a fee of around £20-25 million. Having signed him for just  £15 million four years back, Spurs are looking to make a profit from his departure. There is a lot of interest in him from Italy, and Juventus are one of the clubs that have been linked with the 28-year-old for quite a while now.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have already started planning for the summer. They are looking to bolster their squad by bringing in multiple top players, and the departure of the Danish international will help them balance their books and make room for new arrivals.
